Harrisville Light Up Night to finish with fireworks

HARRISVILLE — Light Up Night will start around 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Harrisville Park.

Caterer Family Traditions will have hot food and drinks available for any visitors.

The event, which is organized by the borough government, is free.

Mayor Gary Hughes said the lights placed around town will be lit up along with a Christmas tree in the park.

“Santa Claus is going to arrive on a fire truck,” Hughes said. “There'll be a Santa Claus for kids to talk to.”

According to the mayor, the night will be capped by a small fireworks display around 6:30 p.m. or whenever it is dark enough.

April Anschutz, borough council president, said the borough donated cookies and snacks for the evening.

“It'll be small and sweet,” Anschutz said.

This is the third year for the annual event.

“It brings us together,” Anschutz said. “Each year, we seem to add more, which for a small community like ours is big.”
