Seven Fields closing pool early

Following a shortened — and unusual due to the coronavirus pandemic — season, the Seven Fields Town Park Pool will close Sunday.

Borough manager Tom Smith said the pool season will end only one week sooner than it has in years past, but much of that decision was made based on the lifeguards having to return to school.

Seven Fields opened its pool July 3, which was supposed to have been the second day of the canceled community carnival. In mid-July, the borough opened the pool to non-resident visitors after it failed to attract more than 100 guests any day.

Smith said that decision did not bring any significantly larger number of guests to the pool. For the four-day period from Aug. 13 to 16, the pool averaged 71 guests per day.

“Did we see an influx or a boost in our sales or pool passes? No,” he added.

Despite the low attendance at this year's pool season, Smith said he's hopeful the summer of 2021 will yield better results.
