Debra Mezzara

Debra Mae Mezzara, 65, of Mercer, passed away at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, on Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, following a short illness.

She was born Feb. 5, 1956, in Grove City, to Arthur Wilson Moore and Shirley Mae Vogan Moore.

She graduated from Grove City High School in 1974.

She retired in 2018 from Troy-Alan Chevrolet in Slippery Rock, after a lengthy career in automotive services. She held many positions in auto administration in her career. Her workplaces included working for Frasier Chevrolet in Slippery Rock, Crivelli Chevrolet in Franklin, and McNutt Motors in Grove City.

She was a great baker and made world famous rolls and buns. She would bake for others at the drop of a hat, and was always dependable to provide her great baked goods at family gatherings and functions.

She purchased her baking supplies in bulk and enjoyed entering in baking contests, including the Jefferson Township Fair.

Along with her husband, Chuck, they bred and showed Percheron Draft horses. She greatly enjoyed the sleigh rides. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and especially with their 4-H programs showing dairy cattle.

Survivors include her husband, Charles “Chuck” J. Mezzara at home in Mercer; her sons, Charles W. (Susan) Uber Jr. of New Castle, James W. Uber of Harrisville, Thomas C. (Erin) Uber of Adamsville, Pa., and Michael J. Uber of Harrisville; her mother, Shirley Moore of Mercer; her sister, Beverly S. (Alan) Henry of Grove City; three brothers, Dale W. (Dana) Moore of Allison Park, Robert B. (Lisa) Moore of Mercer, and Ralph E. (Nancy) Moore of Mercer; seven grandchildren, Dalton W. (Maizee), Luke W., Kaylee A., Sadie M., Colton T., Carter M. and Carlee R.; her great-granddaughter, Delaney; and her stepdaughter, Nicole Peterson and her stepgranddaughter, Brody Peterson, both of Erie.

She was preceded in death by her father; her grandparents; and a niece, Lisa L. Moore.

MEZZARA — The family of Debra Mae Mezzara, who died Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home, Village of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Hwy., Volant.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Stebbins presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Mercer County 4-H park in Debra's memory. Contributions can be sent to 463 North Perry Hwy. Mercer, PA 16137. Checks can be made out to Mercer County 4-H.
