One person suffered serious injury and was flown to the hospital following a crash in Mercer Township Friday night.

The incident occurred at 512 Grove City Road at 10:18 p.m., according to state police. Police said Matthew M. Wilson, 41, of Grove City, was driving a 2008 Nissan Versa north, when he lost control of the vehicle and it hit a tree.

According to Butler County 911 dispatch reports, the incident was called in as a vehicle accident with entrapment. Slippery Rock and Harrisville fire departments, the county Technical Rescue Team and Superior EMS assisted on the scene.

Wilson was flown to St. Elizabeth Hospital.
