Millie L. Matis
Millie L. Matis, 96, of Butler, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at New Haven Court.
Born Sept. 24, 1925, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Nelson T. and Julia (Laurent) Hilliard.
She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Church.
Millie was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and she also baked for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and she especially enjoyed her pets.
Surviving are her four daughters, Sherri (Kenny) Matis-Mitchell of Oxford, Pa., Denise (Stuart) Matis-Marks of Dover, Del., Susan (Robert) Steffler of Butler, and Danielle Matis of Butler; her seven grandchildren, Andrea Matis, Amy Yuhouse, Derek Minto, Kelsey Gibson, Nicholas Cua, Julia Bauman and Amelia Cua; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Jules Hilliard of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Matis Jr., whom she married Sept. 24, 1946, and who passed away Nov. 5, 1987; a son, Andrew Matis; a granddaughter, Emily Marks; her brother, George Hilliard; and her sister, Denise Hilliard.
MATIS — There will be no public visitation for Millie L. Matis, who died Monday, Jan. 24, 2022.
Burial will be held privately at St. Michael Cemetery in Butler.
Arrangements have been entrusted to GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
