City paying to clear Sullivan Run
Over the next three weeks, trees and other debris will be cleared from Sullivan Run.
Butler City Council approved a motion at Thursday's meeting to pay Bauer Excavating Inc. $5,470 to clear the waterway.
Mayor Ben Smith said clearing the run is a recurring process the city always contracts out.
“It depends on when we get to it,” he said. “It always goes to the low bidder.”
City Council also discussed the possibility of moving a clock on Main Street that Smith said has been struck by vehicles in the past.
“We didn't want to use taxpayer money to move it,” Smith said. “Dillon, McCandless, King, Coulter and Graham expressed interest in the payment for the repairs and moving of the clock, but council didn't take any action.”
The council also reviewed a payment of about $430,000 to Glick Fire Equipment Company for a new fire truck. Smith said this is the second of three payment installments in similar amounts to pay off the truck.
Council also heard an annual audit report, which Smith said found nothing out of the ordinary.
