Mom faces trial in case of altercation with son
SAXONBURG — A mother accused of brandishing a gun and threatening to shoot her son during an argument at their Middlesex Township home is headed for court.
District Judge Sue Haggerty ordered Grace L. Lambert, 59, to stand trial on felony assault and other charges Wednesday at a preliminary hearing. No one was injured in the Aug. 1 altercation.
Lambert, the mother of three adult children, remains free on $5,000 unsecured bond with the condition that she have no contact with the 24-year-old victim.
Middlesex Township police officer Conrad Pfeifer testified that he was called to the defendant's house on Truver Road around 8:30 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute. He met the victim outside.
The defendant's middle child told the officer that he and his mother had gotten into an argument. He believed she was intoxicated.
“He said his mother was chasing him through the house with a .380 (caliber) Ruger pistol pointed muzzle first at him, saying, 'I will shoot you. I swear to God,'” Pfeifer testified.
The victim got out of the house and called 911.
The officer said he later spoke to Lambert at the home, and she confirmed the altercation with her son.
On cross-examination by Lambert's attorney, Matthew Makoski of Westmoreland County, Pfeifer related what she told him.
“There was an argument, it did get physical and then she got a Ruger .380 and did chase him through the house, pointing it at him,” the officer said, relating the defendant's account.
She subsequently became “uncooperative” with police, Pfeifer said.
Lambert is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.
