Casey Kretzer scored 23 points Wednesday night as the Butler County Community College women’s basketball team scored its first win of the season, defeating Mercyhurst North East 60-53.

Alexis Barnhart added 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Pioneers (1-3).

Michaella Roth limited 30 point-per-game scorer Essence Sims to seven in the contest.

The Pioneer men slipped to 0-4 with a 115-82 loss. Julian Sanks scored 44 points with Jamir Carter adding 18. Dom Schmidt had eight rebounds.

Sanks sank 11 3-pointers in 14 attempts.
