The 39th annual Butler Road Race, presented by Butler Health System, will take place June 28.

Proceeds from the event fund academic scholarships to graduating cross country runners from Butler County high schools.

In the past 20 years, the race has provided 635 academic scholarships amounting to $337,850.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has installed a video camera high above a nest two bald eagles have built along the Monongahela River in the Hays section of Pittsburgh.Live footage from the camera is being streamed on the Game Commission's website at www.pgc.state.pa.us. A freshly laid egg has been spotted in the nest and the camera will capture every second of its development.In 1983, only three pairs of nesting bald eagles remained in Pennsylvania. This year, there are more than 270 known bald eagle nests nationwide.

PITTSBURGH — Butler graduate and Penn State-Altoona freshman bowler Brea Suchonic has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Newcomer of the Year.Suchonic averaged 164 in the AMCC's team format competition and led the Lady Lions to a runner-up finish in the first-ever AMCC Championships recently. She was twice named the conference's Bowler of the Week.Suchonic posted the highest pinfall total on her team in six out of nine events, including a seasonhigh score of 1,048 in the AMCC Championships.

SAXONBURG — Former Clemson University football coach Tommy Bowden will be among three guest speakers at the fourth annual “Reverse the Curse” Men's Conference March 8 at the Saxonburg Memorial Church.Doors open at 7 a.m. The Conference begins at 8 p.m. and will end at approximnately 3 p.m.Other guest speakers include movie actor Robert Amaya and Pastor Steve Chiles from the Shartel Church of God in Oklahoma City.Tickets are $30 each, four for $100 or $27.50 each online. PITTSBURGH — Butler graduate Olivia Bresnahan scored eight points, grabbed seven rebounds and had four assists Saturday in Duquesne's 60-51 women's basketball victory over Fordham.The Dukes (17-10, 9-5) host La Salle Wednesday night.

WEST MIFFLIN — Butler graduate Katresa Savisky scored 13 points to help the Point Park University women’s basketball team defeat Cincinnati Christian, 75-65, Saturday.The win gave the Pioneers (26-4, 13-4) the most single-season victories in school history. Point Park is the No. 1 seed in the KIAC Tournament and hosts Brescia in the first round at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
