BC3 women earn overtime victory
BUTLER TWP — Casey Kretzer scored 30 points as the Butler County Community College women’s basketball team beat the Community College of Beaver County 76-62 in overtime.
Michaella Roth added 20 points and Jenna Heitzenrater scored 14 points, including the basket that sent the game to overtime.
Heitzenrater also had 10 rebounds.
Pioneer men bested by Penn Highlands
BUTLER TWP — Andrew Yonker scored 30 points and Julian Sanks scored 27, but the Butler County Community College men’s basketball team fell to Penn Highlands, 119-85.
Jake Slomers and Cole McCarthy each added 10 for the Pioneers.
Pliskova bounced from Australian Open
MELBOURNE, Australia — Second-seeded Karolina Pliskova went the same way as seven-time champion Serena Williams and defending champion Naomi Osaka, exiting in a chaotic third round at the Australian Open.
Pliskova, a semifinalist here last year, lost 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) Saturday to 30th-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in match lasting almost 2 1/2 hours. It was an ominous start, with Pliskova needing almost 18 minutes and fending off six break-point chances before holding in her first service game.
Browns’ RB Hunt cited for speeding
CLEVELAND — Browns running back Kareem Hunt was cited for a traffic violation, and police say they found marijuana in his car.
He was pulled over Tuesday afternoon in Rocky River, Ohio — on Cleveland’s west side — while driving on Interstate 90. An incident report said officers smelled marijuana in car.
Hunt was cited for speeding only and released. There was no drug charge and no indication of how fast he was driving.
