West Butler cleanup going on
The hard work of cleaning up from last night's flash flood is going on all over West Butler at this hour. FEMA and city officials will hold a news conference this afternoon to discuss the disaster.
The National Weather Service estimates that 3 inches of rain fell in 90 minutes last night — what's called “a 100- to 200-year occurrence.” That caused widespread flooding and trapped people in their homes and cars late Wednesday night. The Butler chapter of the American Red Cross has set up a reception center at the fire station on North Washington Street to assist displaced residents in need of temporary shelter.
