Residents in Mars and West Liberty, along with Allegheny Township have some extra decisions to make when they vote in Tuesday's primary.

The three communities have ballot questions.

Mars residents are being asked, “Do you favor the granting of liquor license for the sale of liquor,” and “Do you favor the granting of liquor licenses to public venues for the sale of liquor in Mars?”

Mars Mayor Gregg Hartung said they'd like to see alcohol sold in the borough to help with revitalization efforts downtown. The hope is to attract a restaurant to downtown Mars that would be open in the evening or late-night downtown as all they have now is breakfast and lunch shops.

Some restaurants are interested, but said they needed to be able to sell alcohol to be successful, Hartung said. During public meetings residents said they'd also like to see an evening dinner and drink establishment in Mars.
