WAYNESBURG — Mars graduate and Waynesburg University senior basketball player Elaine Hasek has been named the school's Female Athlete of the Week.Hasek averaged 15 points and seven rebounds per game as the Yellow Jackets split two games.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's women's soccer team, ranked sixth in the final Division II national rankings last year, has added six recruits.The newcomers are defender-midfielder Haley Burkholder of Central Dauphin, defender Emily Felser of Sylvania Northview, defender Hannah Kengerski of Stanardsville. Va., defender Casey Shirk of Lancaster, midfielder Madison Smith of West Allegheny and defender Maddy Tletski of Massillon, Ohio.
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Center Township resident and Michigan State sophomore goaltender Jake Hildebrand has received the Big Ten's third-star award for his performance last weekend against Penn State.Hildebrand made 25 saves in a 2-2 tie with the Nittany Lions and 28 saves in a 2-1 victory. He leads the Big Ten with a .946 save percentage in conference play.This marks Hildebrand's fourth Big Ten weekly award of the season.
GROVE CITY — Grove City College has hired Erin Street as its head volleyball coach, assistant track and field coach and assistant professor of physical education and exercise science.Street, who begins her duties this summer, has been assistant volleyball coach at Slippery Rock University since 2009.Street replaces Susan Roberts, who is retiring after compiling a 583-424 record in 289 seasons at Grove City.
