A Butler man was arrested Tuesday on charges he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old boy last year at a city park.

District Judge William Fullerton arraigned Joseph M. Maggio, 23, on felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors.

Maggio also was arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault. He is being held in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail.

A tip through the ChildLine abuse hot line in June launched the investigation, Butler police said.
