Bruce Matthews
Bruce Edward Matthews, 65, of Harmony, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 8, 1956, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Robert F. Matthews and Virginia Malanowski Matthews.
After graduating from Seneca Valley High School in 1974, Bruce worked at the former Smorey's Garage and managed local Midas garages for several years. He was a talented mechanic and proud local business owner of McKnight Auto Service in McCandless Township for 38 years.
He enjoyed bowling with his family in leagues at Mars Lanes, and at the former Freeway Lanes in Zelienople.
Bruce was an avid Steelers fan and especially enjoyed it when they were winning. He loved traveling to Myrtle Beach every year with his family. On a nice day, you could always find Bruce driving his 2014 black Mustang GT, or at home mowing the grass or in the pool.
Most of all, Bruce cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papa.” He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 38 years, Melinda “Mim” J. (Gates) Matthews; his two boxers, Shelby and Coal; his children, Brandon E. Matthews and his partner, Jenna Hoehn, and Jessica L. Kennedy and her husband, Victor; his two grandchildren, Kaia and Eli Kennedy; his brothers, Mark Matthews (Anita) and David Matthews (Brenda); his sister-in-law, Melissa Pindroh (Gerry); his brother-in-law, Steve Keener (Kyle); and many cousins, nieces and nephews, several extended family members, and friends.
