Ralph Maffei Jr.

Ralph J. “Champ” Maffei Jr., 68, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Dec., 21, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 25, 1953, in Butler, he was the son of the late Ralph J. Maffei Sr. and Jean Ann Frangona Mamula.

He retired from AK Steel in 2014, and went on to work as a truck driver for Hunter Trucking. He also flipped houses.

Champ enjoyed doing yardwork and being outdoors.

He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca E. McElroy Maffei, whom he married Sept. 14, 2013; one stepson, Joshua Knox of Evans City; five sisters and their spouses; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister.

MAFFEI — Friends of Ralph J. “Champ” Maffei Jr., who died Tuesday, Dec., 21, 2021, will be received from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

A blessing service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. John Baver officiating.
