2 Pittsburgh men charged with drug possession
A weekend traffic stop netted Butler police six bags of suspected crack cocaine and two Pittsburgh men under arrest.
Police said they were conducting surveillance on a possible drug house in the 300 block of Third Street about 2 p.m. Saturday when they spotted a Jeep Grand Cherokee drive away from the house.
Patrolman Corey Wendel pulled over the vehicle for a minor traffic violation. He smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the Jeep, according to court documents.
The driver, Marcus G. Troupe, 25, denied having any marijuana or any other illegal substances.
But when he got out of the vehicle, police said, he turned over a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana that was in one of his pockets.
Police also had the passenger, Shakor D. Wilder, 23, get out of the vehicle before they searched it.In the glove box, Wendel found what appeared to be crack. The vehicle was impounded and police later got a search warrant for it.Seized during the search were five large bags and one small bag of suspected crack, documents said. In all, the apparent crack weighed 47 grams.Also found in the Jeep were three small containers with suspected marijuana residue.Troupe and Wilder were both arraigned on felony charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.Wilder is in Butler County Prison on $75,000 bail. Troupe is free on similar bail.
