Hobnob stages Shakespeare

Hobnob Theatre Company will stage Shakespeare in the (Preston) Park this summer.

The play “As You Like It” will be presented in promenade style through the grounds of Preston Park at 6 p.m. July 24, 25 and 31 and Aug. 1 and at 2 p.m. July 26 and Aug. 2.

Tickets are $10. The park is at 415 S. Eberhart Road. Take a chair or blanket.

‘Grease’ staff announced

The Summer Dramatics Project has announced its staff for the upcoming production of “Grease.”

Kathy Campbell and Jean Spafford are the co-producers. Gordon Cavalero is directing.

Mandi Gilliland is the choreographer, and Tommy Walters is music director along with rehearsal and show pianist Debbe Picerno.

The cast of 120 children and adults is rehearsing for the July 30, 31, Aug. 1 and 2 performances at the Succop Theater at Butler County Community College.

Center section tickets are $12 and side section tickets are $10. Tickets are available at May’s Music Shoppe. All seats are reserved.

Carnegie shows Hopper artwork

PITTSBURGH — The Carnegie Museum of Art presents an exhibition showcasing its entire collection of Edward Hopper artwork from July 25 to Oct. 26.

In 1913, Hopper sold his first painting. But it would be more than a decade before the now-famed painter sold another.

“CMOA Collects Edward Hopper” presents all 17 works by Hopper in the museum’s collection, ranging from examples of his etchings, drawings, and watercolors, to the oil paintings for which he is best known.

Vintage ball game planned

The Butler County Historical Society will sponsor a vintage baseball game at 6:30 p.m. July 11 at Butler’s Historic ballpark.

The Pittsburgh Franklins will travel to Kelly Automotive Park where they will meet the Butler Barons on the ballfield.

“President Abe Lincoln” will throw out the first pitch to start the game. Other bits of entertainment from the 1860s are planned.

The Butler Barons team will consist of players Sid Bream, Curt Schnur, Todd Erdos, Randy Collins, Burt Hollobaugh and Josh “Sluggo” Smith, among others.

Tickets are available at the Butler County Historical Society, 123 W. Diamond St., or May’s Music Shoppe, 247 E. Jefferson St. Tickets cost $5 for adults and $4 for senior citizens. Admission is free for children younger than 12.

Keystone ends first season

CRANBERRY TWP — Keystone State Music Theater’s first professional series will wrap up with Broadway in the Park on July 9 and 11at the Rotary Amphitheater, 111 Ernie Mashuda Drive.

The shows are part of Cranberry Township Community Days.

Classics from the golden age of musicals and favorites from today’s blockbusters will be presented by professionals along side KSMT Academy students.
