CRANBERRY TWP — The township's parks and recreation department is holding a series of four monthly dance parties on Saturday evenings, with the first this Saturday in the gymnasium at the municipal center, 2525 Rochester Road. Those age 21 and older may attend.The parties will feature all types of dance music: waltz, foxtrot, nightclub two-step, salsa, cha-cha and swing. Each evening will begin with a group class under the instruction of dance teacher Cathy Kelly. Guidance in the hustle and merengue will begin the series on Saturday with the two-step on Feb. 22; swing on March 22; and the tango on April 26.No advance registration is required. Admission is $10 at the door.
A quartet of films will be presented at Grove City College's Winter Film Festival.At 7 p.m. each Thursday in February, the college is offering a different movie in Sticht Lecture Hall. FRANKLIN — The Franklin Fine Arts Council will host the annual Franklin on Ice Festival on Feb. 8.The main event will transform Fountain Park into an outdoor ice sculpture gallery. Ice carvers will turn blocks of ice into sculpture beginning at 10 a.m., ending with the half-hour speed carving competition at 3 p.m. The sculptures will be on display as long as they last, and they will be illuminated at night.The competition will heat up from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. inside Liberty Galleria during the Chili Cook-Off.
