BUTLER TWP — Five contestants will vie for the title of Butler County's Distinguished Young Woman Saturday at Butler County Community College's Succop Theater.

The program begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.

All contestants are judged on personal interviews, scholastics, talent, fitness and self-expression. The contestants who score highest win scholarships. They all just finished their junior years in high school.

Contestants this year are:

Cecelia Judith Pellegrino is the daughter of Patrik and Laura Pellegrino of Butler.

She attends Butler High School where she is a member of National Honor Society and the National Junior Classic League Latin Honor Society.

She plans to perform a contemporary dance performance to “Beautiful Soul” by Boyce Avenue.

Brooke Anne Schaefers is the daughter of Mark and Suzanne Schaefers of Butler.

She attends Slippery Rock High School where she received the Award of Excellence from The National Academy of Scientists and Technologists, was a member of the National Honor Society and was a competitive baton twirler.

She plans to give a twirl performance to “Masterpiece” sung by Jessie J.

Jessica Marie Bishop, is the daughter of Scott and Lori Bishop of Butler.

She attends Butler High School where she is a member of the National Honor Society, the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science and the Sequinette Dance Team.

Her talent presentation is a ballet performance to “Hungarian Dance #5” written by Johannes Brahms and played by David Garrett.

Lauren Marie Russo is the daughter of Jayme and Jude Russo of Butler.

She attends Butler High School where she is a member of the National Honor Society and High Honor Roll 4.0+. She also won the Presidents Outstanding Academic Award.

She will present a jazz Performance to “What A Feeling” by Irene Cara from “Flashdance.”

Addison Elizabeth Albert is the daughter of Sam and Jodi Albert. She attends Knoch High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council and the Class Cabinet.

She plans to give a vocal performance of “The World Above” from the musical, “The Little Mermaid.

The director is Mary Jo Grinder.

Mistress of ceremonies is Kayla Molczan

Jenna Molczan is the choreographer with Annemarie Lowerre and Jordan Luntz as assistant choreographers.

Luntz was Distinguished Young Woman of Butler County 2016. She is the daughter of Rose and the late Joseph Luntz of Saxonburg. Jordan will graduate from Knoch High School next week. She will be attending Grove City College to major in engineering.

Chairwoman is Barbara Brandon

The winner will go on to compete in the Distinguished Young Woman of Pennsylvania competition Aug. 6 in Johnstown.

The Distinguished Young Woman scholarship program was formerly called the Butler County Junior Miss scholarship program.
