Lab group stages different style of theater at BLT
The Lab performance group in collaboration with the Butler Little Theatre will bring an unusual theater experience to One Howard St.
The show at 7 p.m. March 25 at the BLT will feature Nora Ephron's “Imaginary Friends” presented in reader's theater setting, a style of theater in which the actors use only vocal expression to help the audience understand the story rather than the visual storytelling that includes sets, costumes and movement.
Ephron is the author of “When Harry Met Sally” and “Sleepless in Seattle.”
The story depicts writers Lillian Hellman, who authored of “The Children's Hour” and “Little Foxes,” and Mary McCarthy, who wrote “Groves of Academe” and “Memoirs of a Catholic Girlhood.”
The pair reunite after death to reflect on their decades-long antagonistic relationship.
The play contains adult language.
Local actors Amy Dittman and Alison Carey will star as Lillian Hellman and Mary McCarthy, respectively.
Tickets are $5, available at the door.
