Linda Randig of Butler will be signing copies of her book, “A Pound of Jumbo, A Loaf of Bread,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Book Nook on Main Street.
The recent release is a compendium of the old Mom and Pop stores in the city between 1903 and 2017.

“The Lion in Winter” will be staged in reader’s theater format by the Lab performance group at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Butler Little Theatre, One Howard St.
Reader’s theater is a style of theater in which the actors use only vocal expression to help the audience understand the story rather than visual storytelling such as sets, costumes and movement.
Tickets will be available at the door for $5.
[naviga:h3]Roebling film premieres[/naviga:h3]
SAXONBURG — A short film about the relationship between John Roebling and his son, Washington, will premiere Saturday at Cooper Hall.
There will be a reception at 5 p.m. for an opportunity to meet the actors, director and producer, followed by a screening of “Roebling’s Bridge” at about 5:45 p.m.
John Roebling (along with his brother Carl) founded the town of Saxonburg. John’s patents for wire rope technology were later perfected by his sons and used throughout the world, including for the Brooklyn Bridge.
The film, which runs approximately 20 minutes, will be submitted to film festivals across the country.
Tickets are limited and available at the South Butler Community Library. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

SLIPPERY ROCK — A concert by the Dixie Melody Boys will take place at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at Crossroads Baptist Church, 302 Harmony Road.
The Southern gospel quartet was organized more than five decades ago in Kingston, N.C., and has garnered a Grammy nomination and numerous fan awards.

[naviga:h3]Museum extends hours[/naviga:h3]
PITTSBURGH — The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, 10 Children’s Way, will have free admission on Dec. 24, be closed Dec. 25, and will open a hour earlier than usual Dec. 26 to 31.
The exhibit “Tough Art” continues through Jan. 21.
Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except holidays, and the extended hours will begin at 9 a.m. Dec. 26 to 31.
Usual admission is $16 for adults and $14 for children ages 2 to 18 and senior citizens. Children younger than 2 are admitted free. Call 412-322-5058.
