MARS — Continuing the theme of this year’s programs, “Musicians from Western Pennsylvania,” Opus I Music Society members and guests will gather at 9:30 a.m. Monday to listen to the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh’s “Love Came Down at Christmas” album.

Those listening will make holiday centerpieces for a local assisted living center. The free program will take place in the music room of LifePointe Alliance Church, Route 228. For more information call 724-865-2548.

[naviga:h3]‘Seafarer’ gives holiday chills[/naviga:h3]

“The Seafarer,” one of the most awarded modern Irish plays, will be presented by The Lab performance group at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Butler Little Theatre, One Howard St.

Conor McPherson’s Tony Award-winning, supernatural Christmas tale will be staged in a reader’s theater show, a format in which actors use only vocal expression to help the audience understand the story in lieu of sets, costumes and movement.

In this tale, Sharky Harkin, his brother and their friends engage in a Christmas Eve game of poker with a newcomer, Mr. Lockhart, who turns out to be the Devil himself, come to bargain for Sharky’s soul.

Tickets at the door are $5.

[naviga:h3]Mill history program slated[/naviga:h3]

Bill May will present The History of McConnells Mill: The story of the Civil War captain and freed slave who together created the legacy that is now McConnells Mill State Park, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Butler YWCA, 120 W. Cunningham St.

[naviga:h3]Glass society sets show, sale[/naviga:h3]

The 42nd annual show and sale sponsored by the Three Rivers Depression Glass Era Society is being planned for March in New Kensington.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 2 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 3 at the Quality Inn, 300 Tarentum Bridge Road.

The event will feature glass and pottery from 1880-1980 including early glass to depression, mid-century modern, and items from the ’50s and ’60s.
