Branson on the Road coming to Tanglewood
Debbie Horton is bringing her Branson on the Road family-friendly show to Butler County in April.
The show features costumes, comedy and classic country, bluegrass, rockabilly and gospel music.
“We’ve been doing this show for about 15 years,” Horton said.
“Branson is known as the live music capital ... In Branson (Mo.), there are more than 90 shows a day. Nine million people a year come to Branson. It’s like a little Las Vegas, without the gambling,” she said.
Now a bit of Branson is coming to the Tanglewood Center on April 13.
“Everywhere we go we interact with people,” Horton said.
“In the second part of the show, we have ‘request time’ where we ask people in the audience to name a classic country artist and we’ll do a little bit of a song by them,” she said.
The band always salutes military veterans in the audience at shows, Horton said, and the band plays the songs of the different branches of the armed services.
In addition to Horton, performers in the show include Adam Pope, Preston Walden and Lisa Horngren.
Horton holds the distinction of being the only woman to have played lead guitar for Johnny Cash. She hosted her own show at the Boxcar Willie Theater in Branson and has performed at the Grand Ole Opry.
The April 13 evening at the Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora, will open at 6 p.m. followed by the dinner buffet at 7 p.m. and the program at 8 p.m.
Cost of $30 includes dinner. Seating is reserved. Call 724-287-0021.
