“Typical” snow storm predicted
A winter storm expected to hit Butler County on Tuesday could drop more than 3 inches of snow to the county's northeastern reaches according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.
County residents should see about three-tenths of an inch of snow on the ground when they wake up Tuesday morning, with snowfall steadily accumulating throughout the day and more concentrated to the northeast, said John Darnley, a hydrometeorological technician at NWS Pittsburgh.
By noon, northern Butler County is expected to have more than an inch of snow. That snowfall will continue into the evening for the county's northeast corner.
Southern Butler County is expected to have about half the amount of snow that the north gets.
Expected snowfall averages for the county are: about 2.3 inches countywide; 1.5 inches in southwest Butler County; and 3.2 inches in northeast Butler County.
Darnley called the incoming storm “fairly typical” for this time of year.
