Fire officials investigated the smell of something burning just after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dick's Sporting Goods in Butler Township.

Chris Switala, the township fire marshal, said nothing was found and evacuated employees and customers were allowed back inside at 10:30. Switala assumed the odor, which was mild and quickly dissipated, was a result of equipment firing up when the store opened. He advised management to call back if the smell returns. The Butler Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
