BREAKING: Wolf severely limits social gatherings, indoor dining banned

Gov. Tom Wolf has issued updated mitigation orders which severely limit social gatherings from Saturday through Jan. 4.

The following restrictions will be mandated by the order:

• Restaurants will no longer be able to offer indoor dining — takeout and delivery should be the only option.

• All businesses operating indoors can operate at 50% capacity.

• Indoor and outdoor sports are suspended, including practices and condition sessions. The only exceptions are for professional and collegiate athletics.

• All indoor gatherings, including in your home, should be limited to 10 people.

• All outdoor gatherings should be limited to 50 people.

• Casinos and other entertainment venues are closed.

• Gyms and fitness facilities closed

The orders are by the authority of the governor and the Department of Health, new limited-time mitigation orders will take effect beginning 12:01 a.m. Dec. 12 until 8 a.m. Jan. 4.

“With these measures in place, we hope to accomplish three goals: First, stop the devastating spread of COVID-19 in the commonwealth. Second, keep our hospitals and health care workers from becoming overwhelmed. And third, help Pennsylvanians get through the holiday season — and closer to a widely available vaccine — as safely as possible. This is a bridge to a better future in Pennsylvania,” Wolf said.
