In Brief
Diana Barnett, director of Dutilh Preschool, a ministry of Dutilh United Methodist Church in Cranberry Township, is stepping down. After a successful seven-year tenure as its leader, Barnett is leaving her position to spend time with her family.
Barnett began working at Dutilh Preschool as a substitute teacher when her youngest son attended the class for 4-year-olds.
She worked her way up over the next four years as a classroom assistant and took over as director when the position opened up in 2014.
Under Barnett's leadership, Dutilh Preschool made a concerted effort to incorporate more intentional faith components into the curriculum.
Barnett also ensured that the preschool's academic program aligned with the Seneca Valley School District's expectations for kindergarten readiness.
Dutilh Preschool is closed for the current academic year because of the COVID-19 pandemic and a massive renovation of the preschool and church building.
Barnett has been actively involved in the renovation process and preschool registration for the fall of 2021. She will stay in her position until a new director is hired.
“With the solid foundation established under Diana's leadership, Dutilh Preschool has a bright future,” said Rev. Tom Parkinson, Dutilh Church's senior pastor. “We look forward to identifying our next director, and to re-opening our school with brand new classrooms in the fall of 2021.”
