Karns City freshman Micah Rupp has been named District 9 Boys Basketball Rookie of the Year by All American Awards & amp; Engraving D9Sports.com.
Rupp averaged 8.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game for the Gremlins.
Levi Orton of A-C Valley and Chase Beighley of Karns City, both juniors, were named first team all-district. Orton averaged 22.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game for the Falcons, Beighley 24.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game for the Gremlins.
[naviga:h3]Ex-SRU tight end signs with Texans[/naviga:h3]
Dylan Stapleton, a 6-foo-5, 242-pound tight end who caught 26 passes for 301 yards as a sophomore at Slippery Rock University in 2017 before transfering to James Madison, has signed a rookie free agent contract with the Houston Texans.
Stapleton caught 35 passes for 426 yards last fall for JMU. His quarterback, Pine-Richland graduate and former Pitt signal-caller Ben DiNucci, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys.
