Deal sends girl to school for at-risk youth

Butler felon still in W. Va. jail

A Butler felon's 17-year-old co-defendant will be at a charter school for the next six months to help get her education back on track for her to become a nurse.

On Thursday, Butler county Judge Timothy McCune concluded the girl's case. The Butler Eagle will not identify the girl due to her age. Police said on April 12 she picked up Tyler Lambing, 20, in her father's car and the two drove 125 miles to White Hall, W. Va. They were eventually caught by police after the girl contacted her aunt for money. Lambing was taken to North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County, where he is still being held, according to the jail's inmate records. He is awaiting an extradition hearing to be transferred to Pennsylvania.

The girl was charged with eight felonies: three counts each of theft and receiving stolen property and two counts of conspiracy. But in a deal with prosecution, she will only be disposed for conspiracy theft of a gun and unauthorized use of a vehicle. She will be at Adelphoi Village Colony home for the next six months. The home is an educational facility that bills itself as a place for at-risk youth.

“Sounds like you've got some work to do,” McCune said. “You're not a little kid anymore. Start taking responsibility for your own actions. We're going to give you an opportunity to show us what you want to show us.”

The girl must also serve 25 hours of community service, pay $67 in court costs and $392 for criminal liability.

An extradition hearing for Lambing is still pending. He is charged with 10 felonies: burglary, three counts each of theft and receiving stolen property, conspiracy and two counts of illegally possessing firearms.

According to Butler County court records, Lambing was arrested in December 2017 for two crimes that occurred just days apart.

The incidents include a home invasion in Concord Township and a strong-arm robbery in Butler. He eventually pleaded guilty to a felony charge of conspiracy to commit burglary and to misdemeanor assault in the Concord Township case and to misdemeanor charges of theft and assault in the Butler case.

On July 25, 2018, he was sentenced in both cases to a total of 12 months less one day to 24 months less two days in Butler County Prison, followed by 18 months of county probation.

He was given credit for time spent in prison after his arrest and he was released Dec. 17.
