CRANBERRY TWP — The post office branch at 240 Executive Drive will be open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for package pickup for customers who have been left notice of attempted delivery or have tracking information that their package has arrived.

The availability was part of an initiative by the U.S. Postal Service to allow select Western Pennsylvania post offices to remain open for business on Sundays to help customers get a jump on their holiday shipping.

Some offices also extended Saturday retail hours.

Cranberry Township was the only Butler County office to offer Sunday availability.

HARRISBURG — Gov. Tom Wolf and Insurance Commissioner Jessica Altman said the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Affordable Care Act has extended open enrollment to 3 a.m. Wednesday due to consumer complaints of website glitches and significant delays Sunday, the original deadline.Consumers can sign-up at www.HealthCare.gov. HARRISBURG — The state Department of Agriculture is accepting concept proposals for projects that will increase visibility and competitiveness of the state’s horticultural specialty crops, including fruit, vegetable, nursery, flower and nut products.The deadline to apply is 4:59 p.m. Jan. 24. Concept proposals are the first step in a two-part competitive process for the federal Specialty Crop Block Grants authorized under the federal Farm Bill. Fourteen state projects were funded in 2019 totaling more than $1.1 million. Applicants must submit a concept paper for projects that enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops through market development, technology innovation, food safety, nutrition knowledge, sustainable practices or pest management.Concept proposals should be about three pages in length and cover project purpose; estimated timeline; goals, objectives and expected measurable outcomes; work plan; and budget. Requests may be made for a minimum of $20,000.The proposals will be reviewed by the Department of Agriculture, which administers the grant program. Grants are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service. Successful applicants will be asked to submit a full proposal based on the concept paper by Feb. 21. Applications can be submitted to the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Electronic Single Application for Assistance at esa.dced.state.pa.us.
