Doris E. Seth
Doris E. Seth, 93, of Butler passed away at her residence Monday.
She was born June 10, 1925, in Killbuck, Ohio, and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Ella (Linder) Winkleman.
She moved to Butler at the age of 7 and went on to graduate from Butler High School.
She met her husband, Harry C. Seth Jr., whom she married on Aug. 10, 1945.
Doris worked at the ARMCO Wheelworks office during World War II from 1943 until 1945. She then worked at Montgomery Ward for 18 years, managing the children's department. She and her husband also ran the RC Preflight shop in Butler for 10 years.
Mrs. Seth was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.
She also bowled frequently in Sunrise and Spices bowling league and won a silver medal in the Shippensburg Senior Olympics for basketball. She also was an adult literacy teacher for many years.
Later in life, Doris also went on several mission trips, two to Mexico, one to New Orleans to aid Katrina victims, and one to Mississippi, to help build a home for a displaced family after Katrina. She also volunteered at Katie's Kitchen and Produce to People in Butler.
Doris is survived by four sons, Barry J. Seth of Worthington, Gordon L. (Peggy) Seth of Aurora, Colo., Dennis J. Seth of Jefferson, Ohio, and Eric L. (Nora) Seth of Julian, Pa.; two daughters, Anita L. (Joseph) Negley of Butler, and Pamela E. (Scott) Covert of Grove City; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Seth Jr., who died on March 25, 1996; three sisters, Erika Rivers, Ruth Logan and Herta Worsley; and several nephews.
Doris's children and family would like to extend appreciation to Dr. Chatta and her staff, Allegheny General Visiting Nurses, Allegheny General Hospice Group, for all their compassion and care throughout her illness. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Pastor Barry, Pastor Ben and Vicar Bocian, for their visits, love, support and prayers.
