Gloria Maxine Myers, 88, of Butler passed away Tuesday due to complications from dementia.

Born July 18, 1930, in Butler she was the daughter of the late Eugene M. and Nancy R. Scott.

She graduated from Butler High School in 1948.

Following high school, she worked at Offutt's Department Store in Butler.

On Feb. 26, 1953, she married Thomas A. Myers and they raised four children in Butler.

Maxine was employed for 18 years at Butler County Community College, working as a bookkeeper in the business office. She retired in 1985.

She and the family were members of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Butler for many years. But later, she and Tom returned to Tom's childhood congregation at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, where they had been members for the past 20 years.

Maxine was an avid reader and gardener. She served as a deacon at their church in Prospect, where she helped decorate the altar with flowers every week.

She is survived by her son, Thomas J. (Thomas Sullivan) Myers of Snow Hill, Md.; her daughter, Nancy R. (Craig) McMillen of North Washington, Pa.; eight grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; and her brother, David Keith Scott of Butler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, who passed away Nov. 25, 2018; two sons, Douglas and Mark; and three brothers, Wesley, Wendel and Robert.

MYERS — Family and friends of Gloria Maxine Myers, who died Tuesday, March 5, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect.Additional viewing will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, 115 Church St., Prospect, with the Rev.
