City police arrest alleged spitter

Julie Lascuola

A patient is accused of spitting in the faces of two nurses Sunday night at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Butler Township police arrested Julie L. Lascuola, 36, of Butler, on felony assault and other charges in the incident. She is in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bond.

Police said the defendant threatened the nurses, a man and a woman, while at the hospital around 9 p.m. The defendant spit at the female nurse, and the spit hit the victim in the nose, mouth and eyes, police said.

Lascuola also allegedly spit twice at the male nurse. The second time, police said, the spit hit the victim in the nose, eyeglasses and mask.

During the altercation, the defendant is accused of threatening to spit in the faces of other nurses and physicians at the hospital.

Police said Lascuola, in speaking to an officer at the hospital, denied spitting in the nurses' faces.

On Monday, District Judge Kevin O'Donnell arraigned Lascuola on two felony counts of aggravated assault on emergency medical services personnel, and two misdemeanor counts each of simple assault and reckless endangerment.

Her preliminary hearing is set Thursday. Online court records did not indicate if she has an attorney.
