Architect Alva Hill of Butler dies at age 94

Alva L. Hill, who was a founder of Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann and Associates in Butler, died this morning at the age of 94.

He died at 6:30 a.m. at his home in Butler.

Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann and Associates was a longtime architectural firm that was sold and now is part of Stantec.

While with the firm, Hill played a significant role in many prominent buildings in this area, including Butler High School, the Cliffside Apartment Buildings and the B’nai Abraham synagogue.

The Butler office grew from nine to more than 100 people during that time.

He retired from the firm in 1989.

He also taught students in the architecture program at Butler County Community College for 15 years for no pay.

Arrangements are being completed by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler.
