Friday was a campaign finance filing deadline for three political races taking place in Butler County.

Candidates in two special elections, one for the state House of Representatives and the other for the state Senate, were required by law to detail significant expenditures and donations by Friday. Judicial candidates vying for a Butler County court seat also faced a finance deadline on Friday.

Due to the variety of ways candidates can submit reports, not all of the candidates' reports were immediately available from the Department of State on Friday. The department was able to provide only complete candidates' filings in the special election for the House's District 11 race.

In the House race, both Republican Marci Mustello and Democrat Sam Doctor filed reports, with Mustello raising far more than Doctor, according to the filings.

Doctor's campaign committee collected donations totaling $6,130 in donations between March 20 and May 6, according to his filing.

Comparing these filings doesn't capture the full extent of Mustello's cash-standing over Doctor. Starting on Tuesday, candidates needed to electronically file any significant donations on a daily basis. Mustello has submitted several such filings, while none for Doctor were available.
