Governor calls for all schools to close for 10 days due to coronavirus

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced Friday that all Pennsylvania K-12 schools will be closed March 16 to 27 in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Wolf's announcement comes following numerous school districts throughout the commonwealth individually closing their schools for different periods of time.

According to a statement issued Friday, the commonwealth will monitor the progress of COVID-19 throughout the state and reevaluate whether continued closure is necessary. Schools will not be penalized if they fail to meet the state requirements for school days or hours.
