Stuff the Cruiser

Harper Van Dorne, 4, of Harrisville lifts a bag of dog food into a police cruiser at a past Stuff the Cruiser food donation drive in Harrisville.

Two police departments in the southern end of the county will hold Stuff the Cruiser events, during which residents can place new Christmas gifts into a police car for needy children.

The Saxonburg Police Department will hold its Stuff the Cruiser events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 26 at Saxonburg Coffee & Tea on Main Street and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 27 at South Butler Community Library on Main Street.

The Middlesex Township Police Department also will hold a Stuff the Cruiser from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 27 at Glade Run Church on Route 8 just north of the Browns Hill Road intersection.

New toys, books and boys' and girls' clothing are being requested at all three events.

Those donating items are asked not to gift wrap any donations.

Items “stuffed” into the cruisers will be donated to The Lighthouse Foundation, where parents who use the Lighthouse Food Pantry can “shop” for free Christmas items for their children at the annual Lighthouse Toy Shop.

A fire truck will be present at the Stuff the Cruiser events for perusal by children and adults.
