BUTLER TWP — Loyal longevity, notable numbers and a historic championship run.

An apt description of the 52nd Butler County Sports Hall of Fame induction class, to be sure.

Ron Wissinger, Wayne Roccia, Mark Farabee, Jeff Woller, Monica Glomb, Brian Minto, Rick Schnur, Scott Heinauer, the late Sam Moore and the 1977 Butler football team were officially welcomed to the Hall at the BCSHOF banquet Saturday night at the Butler Days Inn.

Loyalty prevented Wissinger from attending the dinner. The longtime softball slugger spent the weekend with his travel team in Virginia, playing a tournament.

Wissinger's daughter, Macey Buzanoski, spoke on his behalf.

“(Wissinger) spent much of his youth on the Butler playgrounds with his brothers. All we wanted to do was play ball. I wish kids today would do the same thing. It was a great way to grow up,” she said in reading his statements.

Retired pro boxer Minto attended the banquet despite breaking his leg while roller skating with his son earlier in the day.

“Fifty-three pro fights and I get knocked out by roller skates,” Minto quipped.
