Moniteau to face Punxsy in home opener

Moniteau's Wyatt Geibel, No. 13, leads the Warriors on to the field.

CHERRY TWP — Coach Jon McCune wants to ratchet up his uptempo offense a few notches when Moniteau hosts Punxsutawney (0-2) at 7 p.m. Friday.

“I think we need to go a little faster,” McCune said. “With an uptempo offense, you'll have that sometimes.”

McCune installed the offense this summer. While it looks on the surface to be complicated, the coach stressed it really isn't.

Chance Nagy and Wyatt Geibel appear to have plenty of confidence in the attack.

Nagy, a junior quarterback, was 11-of-19 passing for 173 yards and a touchdown. Geibel, a senior wide receiver, caught seven passes for 134 yards and also sprung Cody Wise for a long touchdown run with a key block.

Meanwhile, Punxsutawney has struggled to run the football this season, with only 143 yards on the ground in two games.

A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
