Moniteau names school principal
CHERRY TWP — The Moniteau School Board on July 1 approved Brenda Knoll as the new principal for Dassa McKinney Elementary School.
Knoll has worked for the district for 18 years, most recently as the assistant principal for Dassa McKinney.
Knoll replaces Dolores Bliss, who retired June 30 after 16 years as a principal in the district.
“She’s very competent and capable,” said Superintendent George Svolos of Knoll. “We’re very excited to have her in a leadership position. She’s very enthusiastic and always has been.”
Her salary will be $82,000.
The district is searching for an assistant principal for Dassa McKinney.
The district also has not yet named a new junior/senior high school principal to replace Maynard Harvey who resigned as high school principal June 30. He had been the principal since 2007.
The school board also reassigned staff duties to create the new position of athletic director/transportation director. That position will have a salary of $25,000 to $27,000.
Zoe McDowell resigned as athletic director July 1.
Svolos said, “She did a tremendous job. I have to thank her.”
The elementary school assistant principal previously was the transportation director.
In other action, the board:
Approved renovation work for the Moniteau softball field to be done by George Snyder Excavating.
Approved buying the top of the new football field scoreboard which will display the school name and mascot. The lower portion of the new $24,400 scoreboard was approved in June. An anonymous donor will pay for the top of the scoreboard.
