Hunting license fees increase

The county treasurer has announced the Pa. Game Commission has increased the transaction fee for all hunting licenses by 97 cents.

Diane Marburger, treasurer, said the cost for an antlerless deer hunting license is now $6.97 for Pennsylvania residents and $26.97 for out-of-state hunters.

Marburger also said the county treasurer’s office will begin accepting antlerless deer applications from residents by mail only July 12. Marburger recommends mailing applications no earlier than July 9.

Any resident applications received prior to July 12 will be returned unprocessed, as will checks made out for the incorrect amount.

Another new Game Commission rule is hunters may now apply for and obtain up to six anterless deer licenses before the start of the hunting seasons for any wildlife management unit in which licenses remain available.

Marburger warned licenses in many wildlife management units will be sold out by Sept. 13, but hunters who obtain six antlerless licenses can apply for additional licenses, if available, as they harvest deer and report them.

Hunters who report harvests online through HuntFish.PA.gov or the customer support line at 800-838-4431 will instantly become eligible to buy another license, if they are available.

Those reporting by mail will not be eligible to buy another license until their report is logged, Marburger said.

In addition, landowner anterless deer licenses must be issued before the start of the regular application period.

Marburger said the last day to buy a landowner doe license is July 9. They are only available at the county treasurer’s office, which is on the first floor at the county government center.
