A section of Route 422 west of Butler has been shut down by police while they process the scene of a fatal accident from earlier this afternoon.

According to police radio, the major east-west road in the county is shut down between Greenwood Road in Butler Township and Unionville Road in Franklin Township.

The accident occurred in Franklin Township, near 828 New Castle Road, according to the Butler County Communications Center. No further details on the accident are available.
