Public can weigh in on new Seneca school
JACKSON TWP — A required public hearing on the construction of a new elementary school in the Seneca Valley School District is scheduled for next month.
An Act 34 hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 4 in the Intermediate High School auditorium.
The hearing is required for all new construction or substantial additions to school district buildings resulting in new construction costs.
The hearing will address a new school being planned off Ehrman Road at the border of Cranberry and Jackson townships. It would replace Evans City elementary and middle schools, housing kindergarten through sixth grade.
According to the resolution passed by the school board, the maximum building construction cost is $60,571,183, with a maximum total project cost of $78,737,089.
As part of the process, the full project description booklet outlining the project will be made available and submitted to the state's Department of Education. That booklet will be made part of the minutes for Monday's meeting.
Earlier this summer, officials said final construction documents could be submitted by January, with bidding taking place in February.
