Butler TWP Police investigate school violence threat

Butler Township Police spent the night investigating a gun violence threat against “Butler High School” before determining that the threat was not only false but was made to “cause disruption” to the suspect.

Classes will begin at the normal time Thursday, but with a “visible presence” by township police.

“The Butler Township Police worked throughout the night, including visiting the individual whose name was provided,” according to a news release by Superintendent Brian White. “That individual, who is not a student at either high school building, fully cooperated with police. The police have determined that the individual whose name was used had no knowledge of the threat nor any intent to commit the alleged threat. They believe the call was fabricated to cause disruption to this individual.”

White wrote that the person who made the allegation will be identified and will be prosecuted.
