Mobile home burns; tenant flown to Pittsburgh hospital

Harrisville and Slippery Rock volunteer fire departments assisted with a fire at a mobile home in Pine Township, Mercer County, on Tuesday night.

PINE TWP, Mercer County — Harrisville firefighters responded with multiple other departments to a mobile home fire around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“There were flames coming out of one end of the trailer,” said Harrisville Chief Steve Bickel.

Bickel said his crew assisted Pine Township Engine Company of Mercer County.

“The fire was knocked down within 10 or 15 minutes,” Bickel said.

Slippery Rock Chief Ryan Hanchosky said Pine Township Chief Levi Hipps told him one of the tenants was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh Hospital for burns and smoke inhalation.

He said two other people in the trailer evacuated safely.

“We went up for fire containment overhaul. Pine already had it out by the time we got there,” Hanchosky said. “We were just backing them up with mutual-aid assistance.”

Also on the scene were firefighters from Grove City, Springfield Township and Clintonville departments.
