David Gene Miles

David Gene Miles, 92, of East Brady died peacefully at his home, Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021.

Born Feb. 12, 1929, in Meadville, he was the son of Samuel R. and Fannie D. (Sherman) Miles.

On Feb. 17, 1951, Gene married the former Violet “Joan” Crawford. She preceded him in death in 2012.A U.S. Army veteran, Gene served during the Korean conflict. He was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Purple Heart for wounds he received in action in the Republic of Korea.Gene spent his career at Witco Chemical in Karns City, retiring in 1994.He was a member of the East Brady United Methodist Church, where he took care of the grounds for many years.He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, watching Steelers football, and for many years, coached youth football in East Brady.Gene is survived by his three children, Tim and his wife, Jeanne Miles, of East Brady, Amy and her husband, Rick Snyder, of Cape Neddick, Maine, and Drew and his wife, Betty Miles, of Bullard, Texas.He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren (two on the way); and several nieces and nephews.Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, David Miles; and his twin brother, Glen.The Miles family would like to thank their special friend and neighbor, John Eck, for the care of Gene over the past 18 months.MILES — Funeral services for David Gene Miles, who died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at East Brady United Methodist Church, with the Rev.
