A Butler man is wanted after he allegedly cut off his electronic monitoring device and fled, possibly out of state, authorities said.

Butler County detectives on Monday obtained a felony arrest warrant for Christopher Michael Miller, 30, who is accused of escaping Butler County probation supervision by removing his GPS ankle bracelet.

Authorities suspect Miller cut off the device between 5 and 11 p.m. March 31 while on house arrest.

According to court documents, he was released from the Butler County Prison on March 21 and placed on electronic monitoring.

MHY Family Services in Adams Township, which provides services for adult and juvenile offenders participating in the county’s community monitoring program, notified probation officials that Miller had removed the device.

He was reportedly seen leaving in a vehicle with other people who lived with him.

Detectives subsequently learned that the defendant “has responded to text messages from the (county’s) Behavioral Health Court indicating that he is in West Virginia working for his uncle’s roofing company,” documents said.

The behavioral health court is a relatively new program that addresses the needs of people with mental health problems who are progressing through the court and prison systems.

Miller is charged in the warrant with escape, a felony.
