Mars working to update alcohol rules
Mars voters last May approved a measure permitting the production and sale of alcohol in the borough for the first time since the Prohibition era.
Now members of borough council are considering amendments to zoning laws that will allow for businesses to better take advantage of the relaxed rules.
During last week's regular meeting of council Mayor Gregg Hartung said while the outcome of the election effectively made alcohol legal within the borough, zoning ordinances specifically prohibit it.
