I remember the day I met you

And the day God made us one.

I remember the day I lost you

And will ‘till the end of time.

Among the tears and heartaches

There is one thing that makes me glad

That you chose me to spend with you

The happy years we had.

When I am sad and lonely

And everything goes wrong

I seem to hear you whisper Catherine, chin up and carry on.

You were someone I could talk to.

Someone I could count on to advise and understand.

A million times I have started to say “Stanley”, but then remember you are gone.

I can’t bring back the old days,

Your hand I cannot touch,

But in my heart your memory lingers

Of the one I loved so much.
